Shaugh Prior concert

“Thank you so much for a wonderful concert evening we had at St Edward’s Church on Saturday. The feedback we have had from the audience has been excellent; everyone enjoyed the beautiful and varied pieces the choir sang, and having Tricia as a special guest was a real bonus.” – St Edward’s Church.

We had a really enjoyable evening on 9th July at Shaugh Prior. The concert went with a swing. The cakes were very good as well!

Sarah’s charity run

The number plate and medal

A couple of week-ends ago Sarah, one of our sopranos, took part in the Plymouth sponsored fun run in aid of Cancer Research UK – and here’s the proof.

The extra lung capacity as a result of all this exercise will no doubt make it easier to reach that F sharp at the begining of Canon in D!

BBC Radio Devon

Last Christmas BBC Radio Devon celebrated ten years of the weekly Sunday Service with a programme from Plymouth Methodist Central Hall which was broadcast on Christmas day. Our choir was asked to take part in the programme along with three other local choirs. The recording was made in the run up to Christmas and it was really interesting to be part of that event. The “congregation” and choirs all sang the carols and each choir sang a piece on their own. We sang I Saw Three Ships, which was written by our accompanist Elizabeth. This is a lively interpretation of the traditional carol in a nautical style.

Plymouth Music Festival

In 2009 our choir entered the Plymouth Music Festival and we were pleased with the adjudicator’s remarks, the resulting marks awarded and the cup we received. We entered again in 2010 and improved on our marks gaining a Distinction and retained the cup.

The choir recently voted to enter the Festival again in 2011 – so watch this space!
